Gattaway is a large Georgian/Victorian Farmhouse with some features from the Adam Brothers who were famous in Georgian times for architecture and interior features.

Abernethy is very historic and is the former Pictish capital of Scotland and dates back to 410AD when the Romans were here. The Roman General had his Residence and Bath House not far away. The first Picts arrived in 460AD and built the first church.  There is also a round tower, only one of two to be found in Scotland, others being in Ireland, which dates back to between the 9th and 10th Century.

Gattaway sits amongst rich farmland overlooking the Earn and Tay estuaries and sheep and cattle are bred on the farm for Lamb and Beef.  Gattaway is an ideal base for touring as we are only 4 miles from a major road and rail network.  We can be in a lot of places in a relatively short time!  Edinburgh airport is just under an hour away and Glasgow just over an hour.  There is plenty to do in the area from Golf, Fishing, Shooting, Walking and mountain biking to just relaxing and visiting the beautiful castles and gardens in the vicinity.
